Woman critical in hospital and man seriously injured after car hits wall in Wollaton

Police are appealing for witnesses following a road traffic collision in Wollaton.

Officers were called at approximately 1.40am this morning (23 August) after a red Mercedes collided with a wall along Wollaton Road, between the entrance to Wollaton Hall and Bramcote Lane.

Emergency services attended the scene and two casualties were taken to Queen’s Medical Centre. They include a man who sustained serious injuries and a woman who is in a critical condition.

Both casualties remain in hospital. The male casualty, a 29-year-old man, has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving.

The road remains closed while officers carry out investigation work.

Detective Sergeant Christophe Sutton, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:

“As part of our enquiries, we are keen to speak to anyone who saw a red Mercedes being driven between Nottingham city centre and Wollaton Road between 1.30am and 1.40am today, or who may have relevant dashcam footage.

“We are also keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision itself.

“If you can assist us, please call 101 quoting incident 45 of 23 August 2026.”
