East Midlands Airport baggage system out of action after power cut

Passengers using East Midlands Airport are being advised to check with their airline after a power cut affected several airport systems early this morning.

In an update issued at 6am today, Monday 31 August, the airport said its baggage system remained out of action following the brief loss of power.

System engineers are working to restore normal operations.

An East Midlands Airport spokesperson said: “A brief power cut earlier this morning affected a number of airport systems, including the baggage system which unfortunately remains out of action.

“We are continuing to work with system engineers to resume operations, and apologise for the inconvenience this is causing our customers this morning.”

Passengers scheduled to fly later today are currently advised to travel to the airport as normal and check the latest flight information directly with their airline.

The airport has not said how many passengers or flights have been affected.
