NET confirms four days without trams during Goose Fair strike action

NET has confirmed there will be no tram services on four dates during Nottingham’s Goose Fair, with services running to all stops on the intervening weekdays.

The operator’s latest update sets out when passengers will be able to travel during the industrial action, following the announcement of the tram workers’ pay dispute.

There will be no trams on Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 September, or Friday 2 and Saturday 3 October.

Services will reach all stops from Monday 28 September to Thursday 1 October, although NET warns of possible delays as staff take action short of a strike, including refusing or cancelling overtime. Normal services are scheduled for Friday 25 September and Sunday 4 October.

The arrangements announced by NET are:

For 28 September to 1 October, NET lists trams running from every 15 minutes between 6am and 7am, every eight minutes from 7am to 10am, and every 10 minutes from 10am to 3pm.

From 3pm to 11pm, services are listed from every eight minutes, then every 15 minutes until midnight.

The dispute follows pay negotiations between NET and the GMB union which began in January.

NET previously said its final offer included a 3.3% pay increase, rising to 7% for the lowest-paid roles, alongside improvements for night workers. GMB was seeking a 4.1% increase.

Around 200 workers, including drivers, ticket office staff and maintenance teams, were expected to take part in the action.

The original announcement set out two strike periods beginning at 5am on 26 September and 2 October, ending at 4.59am on 28 September and 4 October respectively. NET’s updated schedule clarifies that there are four dates on which no tram service will operate.
