A 19-year-old man has died after a collision in Plumtree

A man has died and another man was seriously injured after a car hit a wall.

The 19-year-old driver died following the collision in Main Road, Plumtree, at about 1.25am today (Monday 14 June 2021).

The passenger, aged 22, was taken to hospital with serious injuries, which are not believed to life-threatening.

No other vehicles are believed to have been involved in the incident but an investigation has been launched into the circumstances.

Sergeant Craig Luckett, of Nottinghamshire Police’s serious collision investigation unit, said: “Our thoughts are with this young man’s family and our officers will be doing everything they can to support them at this incredibly difficult time. They have asked to be left to grieve in private.

“We are now working hard to establish the circumstances and I would appeal to anyone who has any information, witnessed the incident or has any dash-cam footage to get in touch as soon as possible.

“The road was closed for a number of hours this morning whilst officers conducted their enquiries.

“If you witnessed the incident or have any information or footage that could aid officers in their enquiries, please contact Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 63 of 14 June 2021.”
