West Bridgford continued from where they left off against Kimberley at the weekend and started the game at an incredible pace. Saturday’s match-winning substitute Lee Potts was promoted to the starting line up and along with the Whitehurst brothers, John and Ryan, and Josh Rae, Bridgford immediately put the Ingles side on the back foot.

The first half flew past, with a string of near misses and half chances coming and going. Bridgford being in the ascendancy, but with the pacy visitors also having their moments on the counter attack.

The Second Half began in much the same fashion as the first with Bridgford pressing their opponents and looking extremely dangerous.

Josh Rae found himself in behind the Ingles defence on two occasions, the first saw a good save from the visiting keeper and the second saw his shot fly over the bar.

Bridgford were not to be denied though and the deadlock was finally broken on 53 minutes. A precise through ball from Lee Potts found the club’s top scorer Ryan Whitehurst clean through on goal, he calmly rounded the keeper and rolled the ball into the empty net for his 13thgoal of the season in only his 14thappearance.

As is always the case with this Bridgford side, they continued to press for more but had to wait until the 75thminute before they could add to their lead. Quality work on the right side from John Whitehurst led to him pulling the ball back to the unmarked Potts who scored his third goal in two games to put Bridgford into a 2-0 lead.

There was still time for Etherington to setup a nervy end to the game when he claimed a consolation goal for the visitors on 83 minutes, but in truth, Bridgford were excellent value for the win and saw the game out to claim their second home 2-1 win in the space of 4 days.

Next up for Bridgford is an away trip to Borrowash Victoria this Saturday before they return to Regatta Way on Saturday 6thApril for the visit of Ashby Ivanhoe.
