East Midlands Railway announced the incident this morning.
East Midlands Railway said on Saturday 6 December at 12:18 pm:
‘We are sad to report that a person has been hit by a train. This has occurred between Leicester and Kettering and is disrupting our trains on the London St Pancras/Nottingham/Sheffield route and our London St Pancras/Luton Airport Parkway/Corby route.
‘Emergency services and Network Rail are on site managing the incident.
‘Trains running through the area in both directions on our intercity route can currently not run.
‘Trains on our connect route will be subject to short notice alterations due to train crew displacement and route availability.
‘At present we are expecting the line to re-open in the next 3 hours. As soon as the line is open again, our priority will be to get trains running to their advertised times again. We expect our advertised timetable to resume on the affected routes by 1500.’
