A1: Closed northbound at Stamford – two lorries on fire after collision

The A1 in Lincolnshire is closed northbound between the A6121 and the A606 (near Stamford) due to an incident involving two lorries which have caught fire.

Leicestershire Police and Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service are in attendance. National Highways Traffic Officers are also providing assistance with traffic management.

Diversion Route

Diverted traffic is advised to follow the solid square diversion symbol.

  • Exit the A1 at the A47 Wansford northbound slip road.
  • At the top of the slip road, turn right (west) onto the A47.
  • Continue along the A47 and go straight over the A47/A43 Duddington Roundabout.
  • Continue along the A47 through the villages of Morcott and Glaston until the A47/A6003 Uppingham Roundabout.
  • At Uppingham Roundabout, turn right (north) onto the A6003.
  • Continue north along the A6003 until the A6003/A606 roundabout on the Oakham Bypass, then turn right (east) onto the A606.
  • Continue eastbound along the A606, through the villages of Whitwell and Empingham to the A1/A606 junction to rejoin the northbound A1
