The A1 between the B668 and the A151 near Colsterworth is closed in both directions for on ongoing police-led incident.
All lanes reopened 10 am
There are delays in both directions of up to 60 minutes.
Diversion routes
Road users travelling northbound are advised to follow the solid circle diversion symbol visible on local road signs.
- Exit A1 at A606 Stamford northbound exit slip road.
- At the top of the slip road, turn left (west) onto the A606. Continue westbound along the A606 through the villages of Empingham & Whitwell until the A606/A6003/ B640 Oakham Bypass roundabout.
- At the roundabout, turn right (north-west) onto the A606 Burley Park Way on Oakham Bypass and straight over the A606/B668 roundabout, the Ashwell roundabout & the Railway Bridge Roundabout, then continue north to the Barleythorpe Roundabout.
- At the Barleythorpe Roundabout, turn right (north-west) & continue along the A606 through Langham & Burton Lazars to Melton Mowbray.
- In Melton Mowbray, head north along Burton Street, then left (west) onto Leicester Street (one-way), then north along Wilton Road to the A606/A6006/A607 Wilton Road/Norman Way junction.
- At the junction, turn right (east) onto Norman Way & continue to the A607/B676 Thorpe Lane Junction.
- Turn left (north/east) onto A607 Thorpe Lane, heading out of Melton Mowbray.
- Continue along the A607 through the villages of Thorpe Arnold, Waltham on the Woulds, Croxton Kerrial & Harlaxton to the A1/A607 N/B slip road roundabout (Farmers Arms).
- Turn right at the roundabout onto the A1 northbound entry slip and rejoin the A1
Road users travelling southbound are advised to follow the hollow diamond diversion symbol visible on local road signs
- Exit A1 at A607 Harlaxton southbound junction; continue along the slip road and straight over the Swingbridge Road Roundabout.
- At end of the slip road, turn right (w) onto A606 and continue westbound.
- Go straight at Farmers Arms Pub Roundabout & continue along the A606 through of Harlaxton, Croxton Kerrial, Waltham on the Wolds and Thorpe Arnold to Melton Mowbray.
- At the A607/A606/B676 Norman Way/ Thorpe Lane junction, continue straight ahead onto the A606 Thorpe End and Sherrand Street, and then turn left onto Burton Street heading south out of Melton Mowbray.
- Continue along A606 through villages of Burton Lazars and Langham to Barleythorpe Roundabout at the northern end of Oakham Bypass.
- At Barleythorpe Roundabout, turn left, onto the Okaham Bypass and continue straight over the Railway Bridge Roundabout, Ashwell Roundabout, and A606/B668 roundabout to the A606/A6003/B640 roundabout.
- Turn left & continue on the A606 through villages of Whitwell and Empingham to the A1/A606 Stamford southbound junction, turn left onto the slip road and rejoin the A1
