National Highways say the road has reopened after a collision and spillage on Wednesday.
Lincolnshire Police, Fire & Rescue, East Midlands Ambulance Service paramedics and National Highways Traffic Officers are attending the incident.
The road was closed at 12 noon on Wednesday 16 March near the Fernwood junction between Newark and Grantham on the southbound carriageway.
Emergency repairs to the road were required.
The road reopened at 5 am on Thursday 17 March.
Lincolnshire Police said yesterday:
‘We were called to the A1 at Foston, near to the Long Bennington turn off, just after 11.15am today ( Wednesday 16 March ) following a report of a collision between an HGV, and two maintenance lorries.
‘The southbound lane has been closed to allow for investigations and recovery. One lane of the northbound lane is also closed. We expect these closures to remain in place until approximately 3pm today.’
One man, the driver of the HGV, has been taken to hospital with injuries described as minor.
