The A38 in Derbyshire is closed in both directions between the M1 J28 and B600 near Alfreton due to a serious collision that has resulted in a vehicle fire.
The incident was reported at 1:42 am on Saturday 23 April.
Derbyshire Police said at 6:52 am:
‘The A38 in both directions between M1 J28 and the B600 is closed until further notice due to a serious incident. We cannot estimate the reopening time at the minute. Find alternative routes.
‘Emergency services including Derbyshire Police are on scene. National Highways Traffic Officers are also on in attendance to assist with traffic management.’
Due to the serious nature of the incident the road is expected to remain closed for several hours.
Diversion details
Road users travelling southbound are advised to follow the hollow circle diversion symbol:
- At M1 J28 roundabout take the 1st exit onto the M1 southbound.
- Follow the M1 southbound to J24A and leave the M1 onto the A50 westbound.
- Continue on the A50 westbound back to the A38 at Toyota Island and continue your journey north and south.
Due to a planned roadworks closure on the M1 J24A northbound entry slip road users travelling northbound are being diverted using local routes.
