A38 near M1 to be closed ‘for some time’ after multi-vehicle collision – see diversion

National Highways and emergency services are at the scene.

The carriageway has been closed due to a multiple vehicle collision which occurred at approximately 4:30pm. All emergency services are currently in attendance and National Highways traffic officers are assisting with traffic management. There are currently delays of at least 30 minutes above usual journey times between A610 near Alfreton and the closure at Birchwood Lane.

Diversion route

• Exit the A38 onto the slip road toward Clover Nook Industrial Park. At the roundabout, turn left onto Birchwood Lane.
• At the mini-roundabout, turn right onto the B6019 (Alfreton Road, Mansfield Road) and continue straight on at Market Street roundabout to rejoin A38 at M1Junction 28

National Highways said: “The A38 northbound to the the M1 at junction 28, traffic has been temporarily stopped due to a collision.

“Traffic officers and Derbyshire Fire and Rescue are currently at scene, East Midlands Ambulance Service are on their way to assist.”
