A42 closed southbound at M1 East Midlands Airport – police incident

The A42 in Leicestershire is closed southbound between the M1 J23A and J14 due to a police led incident.

AA Roadwatch reports:

‘Road closed due to police incident on A42 Southbound from M1 J23A (Derby / East Midlands Airport / Tamworth) to J13 A511 (Ashby-De-La-Zouch / Coalville). The road has been closed since the early hours this morning.’

All emergency services are working at the scene.

Diversion Route: 

Road users are advised to follow the “Solid Diamond” diversion symbol on road signs. 

  • Exit the A453 southbound at the A42/A453 Finger Farm roundabout.
  • Take the 1st exit onto the A42 south. Keep to the left land and take the free flow lane onto the M1 southbound.
  • Continue on the M1 south to J23.
  • Exit at J23 and take the 3rd exit onto the A512.
  • Continue on the A512 through the A512/B591 (Ashby Road East/Ingleberry Road/Leicester Road) junction, Ashby Road West/Charnwood Road junction in Shepshed and through the Loughborough road roundabout in Coleorton.
  • At the A42 J13 at Ashby-de-la-Zouch take the 1st exit and join the A42 southbound.
