The A453 in Nottinghamshire is closed southbound between the A52 and M1/A50 (near Wilford) due to a collision.

The road was closed at around 5 am today.
Emergency services including Nottinghamshire Police are currently on scene.
Please allow extra time for your journey as there are delays of up to 60 minutes on the approach to the closure.
Please plan ahead as the road will likely to be remained closed to allow for collision investigation works to take place.
Diversion Route
Road users are advised to follow the solid diamond diversion symbol on road signs
- From the A453 Mill Hill roundabout turn around and travel back North East to A453 Clifton Interchange.
- Follow free flow lane onto the A52.
- Continue along the A52 until you reach the Queens Medical Centre Island
- Exit the A52 onto the slip road for the roundabout and take the first exit on to the A52
- Continue on the A52, travelling over Priory, Bramcote, and Bardmills roundabouts, until you reach the exit to the M1 junction 25.
- Exit the A52 and join the M1 southbound until junction 24.
Nottinghamshire Police issued an appeal below:
An investigation is underway after a fatal crash involving two vehicles.
The incident happened on the A453, in Ratcliffe-on-Soar, at around 4.48am today (Wednesday 4 May 2022).
A man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The road remains closed southbound, towards Leicester. It is open northbound but traffic has been brought to a standstill. Drivers are advised to avoid the area if possible.
Sergeant Steve Waft, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “This is a tragic incident and our thoughts are with this man’s family and friends at this sad time.
“Our investigation is still in its early stages and we are working hard to understand exactly what happened. We are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or any drivers who may have recorded dash-cam footage to please get in touch with us.”
