A46 collision: Two in hospital with potentially life-changing injuries – police seek witnesses

Police investigating a car crash are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

Officers were called to the A46 near Newark just before 9am today (26 August) following a collision between two cars.

Two people suffered potentially life-altering injuries in the collision and are receiving hospital treatment.

Road closures are currently in place on the A46 between the Cattle Market Road and Brownhills Roundabouts, Newark.

Detective Constable Andy Fawcett, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “There will have been some motorists who saw this incident happen, due to it taking place on a busy road during rush hour.

“Two people were seriously injured in this collision, so it’s extremely important that any witnesses come forward with any information they have.

“We’d also like to review the dash-cam footage of anyone who drove on the A46 near Newark at this time, particularly lorry drivers who were in the area.

“The A46 remains closed between the Cattle Market Road and Brownhills Roundabouts, so we’d advise drivers to avoid this area for the time being.

“Anyone with information is asked to call the police on 101, quoting incident 141 of 26 August 2022, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
