A5 closed both ways in Leicestershire after bridge strike and diesel spillage

The A5 is closed in both directions between the A47 near Nuneaton and M69 near Hinckley.

A lorry has struck a bridge and overturned. A large diesel spill has also been reported.

Diversion Routes

Northbound – follow the solid square symbol from the M69 J1, via the B4109, B4114 and A4254 to the A47. Then take the A47 to the A5 Longshoot junction, to re-join the A5 northbound.

Southbound – follow the solid diamond symbol, from Dodwell’s Island – onto the B4666 and local roads, including the B590, B4669 and B4109, to re-join the A5 at Baskerville Interchange.

Delays are likely on the approach to this closure, with additional journey times also expected on diversion routes.
