The A50 in Derbyshire is closed in both directions between the A38 (Toyota Island) and the A6 (near Chellaston) due to a lorry fire.
10:00 am update from police:
‘We have closed a stretch of the A50 after a fertiliser lorry caught fire. The incident happened at 8.45am between junctions 4 and 3. The fire is out but we are making the lorry safe and clearing the carriageway. Drivers are advised to find alternative routes.’
Emergency services including Derbyshire Police and Fire, are in attendance. Highways England has resources deployed to assist.
Road users are advised to expect disruption and to allow extra journey time.
Traffic is being diverted via local routes.

‘The A50 east and westbound is currently closed between Toyota Island and the Bonnie Prince Island due to an ongoing multi agency incident. Please avoid or make diversions . Incident 187-130221.’
