The A50 Foston-Hatton-Hilton Bypass in Derbyshire is closed eastbound between the A511 (Hatton) and the A516 (Hilton) due to a serious collision involving a lorry and a car.
Emergency services including Derbyshire Police are in attendance. National Highways Traffic Officers are also providing assistance with traffic management on scene.
Diversion Route
- Exit the A50 eastbound at the A511 junction (Hatton)
- Take the 2nd exit at the 1st roundabout and at the next roundabout take the 1st exit to continue on the A511 (Uttoxeter Road) eastbound
- Continue on the A511 eastbound (which becomes Derby Road), passing around the village of Hilton
- Continue until the roundabout with the A5132 and then take the 2nd exit
- At the next roundabout, turn right and continue on the A5132 and then re-join the A50 eastbound at the A5132/A516 junction
Due to the severity of this incident, the road is expected to remain closed for some time.

‘Road closed and queueing traffic due to crash investigation work on A50 Eastbound from J6 A511 (Scropton / Hatton) to J5 A516 Derby Road (Etwall / Hilton). Congestion to the Cubley turn off. Traffic is diverting around the closure through Hatton and Hilton.’
