Updated: A50 expected to be closed both ways for several hours after serious collision

The A50 in Derbyshire has closed both ways this morning Sunday 16 April.

7 pm: 16 April

The westbound carriageway reopened shortly after 6:15pm.

Eastbound carriageway remains closed for ongoing complex investigation and recovery work.

Derbyshire Police, National Highways Traffic Officers and service providers are on scene.

The A50 in Derbyshire is closed in both directions. Eastbound between J4 (Findern) and J3 (Swarkestone) and westbound between J2 (Thulston) & J3 (Swakestone) due to a serious road traffic collision.

Derbyshire Police and emergency services are currently on scene.

The closure is expected to remain in place for several hours.
