A52 Gamston road surface repairs works start in March

Work on repairing dangerous defects on the A52 Radcliffe Road will begin next month, National Highways have confirmed.

A 40 mph speed limit has been in place since the New Year due to concern over the condition of the road.

Work will take place over 15 nights in March, with the dates still to be confirmed.

It will take place between the RSPCA junction at Radcliffe on Trent and the Stragglethorpe junction.

National Highways says: “We are planning to carry out the work over 15 nights, starting next month. The exact date is still to be confirmed.

“It involves carriageway patching, drainage surveys, barrier repairs and renewals, upgrading street lights to more energy efficient LEDs and routine maintenance such as grass cutting.”

The One Network website, which provides information on roadworks, says: “Speed restriction due to likelihood of danger”.

It’s unclear exactly when the speed limit on the busy artertial road will be lifted.

Nottinghamshire County Council, who are responsible for the county’s highways network, have recently pledged to invest £4m in repairing roads which were damaged over the winter.

Excessive rain during Storm Babet and Storm Henk caused five times the typical damage to highways over the last few months.

Work is set to begin around the county when the weather improves.
