A52 Gamston roundabout overnight closures from 8 pm all week

National Highways say that it is continuing to make good progress at Gamston roundabout, as part of the A52 Nottingham Junction Improvement scheme.

A spokesperson said:

‘Our construction work at Gamston has been managed over a series of phases, each of which require different traffic management arrangements.

‘At the end of October 2022, our junction improvement work at Gamston roundabout will be moving into Phase 4.

‘It’s necessary to close the road each time we put in place new traffic management, for the safety of our workforce, road users and the general public.’

‘We’re putting in place a series of overnight road closures at Gamston roundabout for five nights, starting on Monday 31 October and ending on Friday 4 November 2022. On each night, the road will close at 8pm and reopen the next morning at 6am. This is so we can safely switch over our traffic management and move the concrete barriers, ahead of Phase 4 of our construction work.’

As with the previous weekend overnight closure, the road will be closed at the points which meet the red line as shown below.

  • Heading east, on the A6011 Radcliffe Road at its junction with Ambleside
  • Heading north on the A52 Lings Bar Road, from the Tollerton Lane junction onwards
  • Heading west on the A52 Radcliffe Road, from the Stragglethorpe Road junction onwards

Diversion routes for overnight closures

A52 Eastbound

Road users travelling eastbound on the A52 Radcliffe Road from the Stragglethorpe Road junction will be invited to join the A46 at the Saxondale roundabout, before driving south to Widmerpool, following the A606 Melton Road and then re-joining the A52 Gamston Lings Bar Road at the Wheatcroft roundabout. This route is not suitable for high sided vehicles over 14’ 6”.

High sided vehicles over 14’ 6” are invited to take the A46 from the Saxondale roundabout and travel south to the Dalby Interchange. From here, take the A6006 westbound to Rempstone, then follow the A60 northbound to re-join the A52 at the Nottingham Knight junction.

Accessing the A6011

To access the A6011 from an eastbound direction, drivers are invited to join the A46 at the Saxondale roundabout, before driving south to Widmerpool to take the A606 Melton Road. Continue on Melton Road through West Bridgford and join the A60 London Road, then re-join the A6011 at Meadow Lane. This route is not suitable for high sided vehicles over 14’ 6”.

We’ll put out advanced warning signs on the road ahead of all road closures.

I thank you for your patience and co-operation during this road closure. We‘re working hard to make sure this scheme is completed as quickly and safely as possible. Please note that the exact dates and times of the works may be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. Where possible, we’ll keep you updated of significant changes.
