Nottinghamshire Police said:

‘We have seen a significant amount of rain across Nottinghamshire tonight causing localised surface water flooding which has affected a small number of roads and properties.

Roads were affected in areas including Beeston, Bramcote, Stapleford, Radford, Wollaton Vale, Chilwell, Lenton Abbey and Broxtowe.

Local authorities and emergency services were made aware of incidents. Nottinghamshire Police understands that no-one has had to be evacuated from properties.

More rain is forecast into tonight and tomorrow. A second yellow weather warning for rain tomorrow across Nottinghamshire has also been issued.

Drivers are urged to take extra care on the roads. Remember that it will take a lot longer to stop your car in wet weather, so leave plenty of room to the car in front.

You should take notice of all road closure signs and do not drive through large amounts of standing water.

If you have concerns and you are at risk of flooding please visit the Nottinghamshire County Council advice page: https://www.nottinghamshire.gov.uk/planning-and-environment/flooding/preparing
