Motorists in Tollerton are being advised of a series of road closures and traffic restrictions early next year as major gas main replacement works get underway.
Cadent Gas will be carrying out the programme, which requires short-term closures on several village streets and a lengthy period of temporary traffic management on the A606 Melton Road.
According to the notice, Tollerton Lane, Stanstead Avenue, Bentinck Avenue and Lenton Avenue will each close for 20 metres from their junction with the A606. These closures will run from 5 January until 30 January 2026, although only one street will be shut at any one time to reduce disruption.
In addition to these closures, a rolling contraflow system and two- or three-way temporary traffic signals will operate along the A606 Melton Road from 5 January until 20 March 2026.

Signals will be manually controlled between 7am and 7pm to help manage peak-time traffic. The works are required for the replacement of the local gas main, a project expected to involve excavation at various points along the route.
Drivers are advised to follow diversion routes as signed on site. An indicative diversion map is included in the bulletin, showing routes around the affected junctions, but the council stresses that the precise diversions may vary as the works progress.
Local residents and regular commuters on the A606 should anticipate delays at busy times, particularly while the rolling signals are in place.
The phased approach to street closures is intended to minimise inconvenience, but access in and around Tollerton will be more restricted than usual throughout the first quarter of 2026.
