Aldi Edwalton McDonald’s and drive-thrus get green light at planning committee meeting

Plans to include a McDonald’s, Greggs and Costa at the Aldi Edwalton superstore and care home complex at Edwalton have been passed by committee at a meeting tonight.

Councillors votes were 8 for – 2 against.

Cllr Jonathan Wheeler told us:

‘Naturally I’m disappointed it has gone through, and what I hope is that the developer keeps their word on not trying to change licensing hours, and includes the addition of CCTV and litter picking. I’d like to thank the residents who have put a lot of time and effort into the campaign, as these changes wouldn’t have happened without them, and the local Borough councillors.’

Earlier this week it was reported that a residents’ group from the nearby estates had formed in opposition to the plans.
