Ambulance strikes postponed as talks with Government planned

The GMB and Unison trade unions have informed their members that they have postponed the industrial action scheduled for Monday 6 March, Tuesday 7 March and Wednesday 8 March, as they will be entering into negotiations with the government along with other health service unions.

East Midlands Ambulance Service said:

‘Currently, the Unite union is planning to go ahead with strike action as part of the national pay dispute on Monday 6 March from 00.01 hours until 23.59 hours.

‘There are fewer than 15 members of this trade union at EMAS.

‘Therefore, we are standing down arrangements made to respond to industrial action next week.

‘We are grateful to our colleagues both on and off the picket lines, and in the trade unions, for their professionalism and collaboration throughout industrial action, to ensure we could continue to respond to patients in need of an emergency response.

‘We will continue to work with trade union colleagues closely to keep patients safe in any future periods of industrial action and continue to fully respect the right of NHS staff to take lawful and peaceful action.’
