Appeal after gunshot fired at a Clifton home

Officers investigating a firearm discharge in Clifton are appealing for witnesses or anyone who may have recorded dashcam footage of the incident to come forward.

Police were called to a report that the front door of an address on Kilsby Road had been shot at around 11.20pm yesterday (Friday 30 August 2019).

No-one was inside the property at the time and no-one was injured.

Officers are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident to get in touch. We also want to hear from anyone who may have recorded CCTV or dash-cam footage of the incident.

Detective Inspector Gayle Hart said: “We’ve increased patrols in the area to provide reassurance to the local community and we want people to know that we’re treating this incident very seriously and doing everything we can to find those responsible.

“We’re treating it as an isolated incident, which is not connected to any previous incidents, and we believe this was targeted and not a random attack.

“A scene has been set up and officers are continuing to work hard on this case to establish what happened. We’re carrying out house-to-house enquiries and checking CCTV in the local area but we’d still like to hear from anyone with information that could help our investigation.

“Did you drive past the area at the time and haven’t checked your dash-cam footage yet? It could have vital information about who was in the area at the time, even if it didn’t capture the incident itself. I’d urge you to please get in touch.

“It’s understandable that this type of incident will cause a great deal of concern to local people and, as you may expect, there will be a greater police presence in the area while we carry out our enquiries.

“I’d invite residents to speak to our officers if they have any concerns and I’d urge anyone with any information about this incident to contact us.

“If you have any information please call us on 101, quoting incident number 1047 of 30 August 2019, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
