A man is due to have surgery today after he was found with a stab wound to his arm last night.
Officers were called to Saffron Gardens, The Meadows, to a report that a man had been stabbed and paramedics were treating him.
The incident happened at around 7.20pm on Tuesday (6 April 2021). It is understood he got off at the wrong tram stop and after around 10 minutes of walking made his way towards Saffron Gardens, where he was allegedly confronted by a group of men in an alleyway near the street.
One of the men, described as white, is said to have stabbed the man in the shoulder before leaving the area with the group.
His injuries aren’t thought to be life threatening or altering.
Officers searched the area and enquiries continue into the incident.
Detective Sergeant Chris Berryman, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Our enquiries are ongoing and we would urge anyone who saw the incident or has any information to come forward.
“A man has been left with a significant injury. Possessing an offensive weapon is a serious offence and carrying such an item alone comes with the potential of a hefty fine and prison sentence.
“Reports such as this are treated extremely seriously and we would reassure people in the area that our officers are dedicated to their investigation and determining the circumstances around what happened.”
