Appeal after woman assaulted and robbed on Forest Rec in Nottingham

Officers are appealing for a reported robbery victim to come forward and are also urging a man who tried to step in to help her to get in touch.

The woman had reportedly been walking in the Forest Recreation Ground in Nottingham when she was approached by a man who assaulted her and stole her bag.

The victim reported the incident to a member of security staff who alerted the police but she left the scene before officers arrived. Her identity is unknown at this time.

It was also reported another man tried to intervene and help her by stepping in.

Officer carried out a thorough search of the area but no suspect was found.

Inquiries are ongoing into the incident which happened around 1am on Tuesday 12 August. These lines of inquiry include trawling through CCTV footage.

Reassurance patrols have been stepped up in the area following the incident.

Detective Constable Octavia Watson, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Unfortunately, the victim of this incident left the scene before our officers had a chance to speak to her. 

“We would urge her to contact us as soon as possible and please come forward to help us establish what happened and progress with our inquiries. 

“We would also like the man who tried to help her to please contact us as soon as possible. I would like to stress, he is not a suspect, but he may have vital information which could help us. 

“We’d also like to hear from anyone else who was in the area around the time of this incident, and has any relevant information, that could aid us with our ongoing inquiries.”

The victim is described as being white, aged in her 40s, and has blonde hair. She was wearing a black dress.
