Appeal for witnesses after man critically injured in M1 collision

The driver is in hospital in a critical condition.

Officers are appealing for witnesses after the driver of a car was seriously injured in a collision on the M1 motorway during the early hours of this morning (Monday 4 October).

The collision involving a grey BMW 320 and a lorry was reported just after 3:10 am.

It took place on the northbound carriageway of the motorway between junctions 18 and 19.

The driver of the car was taken to University Hospital of Coventry and Warwickshire with serious injuries, his condition has been described as critical.

The car and HGV were travelling in lane one of the M1 northbound when the collision occurred.  Officers would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision or saw either vehicle beforehand.

Also, if anyone has video recording equipment installed in their vehicles they are asked to check the footage if they were driving along this route during the early hours of this morning.
