Armed officer stop car on M1 in connection with suspected Nottingham kidnap

Two men have been arrested after traffic was stopped on the M1 in relation to a kidnap, which happened in Radford, Nottingham.

Officers were called to Leicester East Services on Saturday after a report that a man had been kidnapped in Nottingham on Middleton Street on Saturday around 2pm.

Armed Response officers stopped vehicles on the motorway and was able to arrest a man after being taken out of a car. A second man in a separate car was also arrested in connection with the report.

The men were arrested on suspicion of kidnap.

Detective Inspector Chanelle Whitney is leading the investigation. She said: “The two men are now in custody in Nottingham and are due to appear at Nottingham Magistrates Court today.

“This was excellent work by all three forces involved at the weekend. Nottinghamshire officers worked closely with colleagues from Leicestershire Police and Northamptonshire Police following the report and was able to make two arrests.

“Kidnap is incredibly serious offence that can have a lasting impact on a victim.

“As a force, we will investigate all reports of crime thoroughly and we have worked hard to make an arrest in this incident.”

Kallum Moodie, 28,  of Charlwood Road in Luton and Daniel Dennis, 29, of Castle Street in Luton have both been charged with kidnap.
