Armed police officers resume reassurance patrols in Nottingham city centre

Armed police officers are patrolling Nottingham’s Old Market Square and the wider city centre.

Assistant Chief Constable Rob Griffin, said: “Officers and armed officers are once again attending the Christmas Market in the Old Market Square while it is taking place throughout November and December as reassurance to the public that we are there should anyone needs us.

“Patrolling the market is something we do every single year when it takes place, so it is not unusual to see officers walking within the city centre and throughout the festivities that take place within the centre.

“We are here to protect the public and will always continue to do so as they enjoy the Christmas festivities within Nottingham and enjoy their time walking throughout the market and are kept safe.”

Armed officers are always working in Nottinghamshire, ready to deploy where they’re needed. Although they may look intimidating, they’re extremely friendly and they’re more than happy to answer any questions or pose for a selfie.
