Armed Police recover knife and gun in bus station stop and search in Worksop

Armed police have arrested a man and a woman and recovered a knife and what is believed to be a gun.

Officers stopped the pair after they got off a bus at Worksop bus station at around 1.30 pm today.

They have been taken into custody for questioning as enquiries are continuing.

Chief Inspector James Woolley, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “The weapons were not used in any way and no threats were made. They were recovered during a stop and search.

“A number of people will have seen the police activity at the bus station and I would like to reassure them that there is no suggestion that there was any risk to the public.
