Armed robbers target Nottingham shop with a gun – and then return with a knife

Officers are appealing for information and witnesses after armed robbers attempted to steal cash from a shop in Basford.

Police were called to Valley Stores in Valley Road at around 8pm last night (10 February) after two men were reported to have threatened a shopkeeper with a gun before he overpowered them.

The men are thought to have returned to the shop with a knife and attempted to steal cash from the till but the shopkeeper defended his store.

Police are now appealing for anyone who may recognise the men pictured to get in touch as soon as possible.

Detective Sergeant Christopher Berryman, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: ”While we do not encourage the public to put themselves in danger, the shopkeeper was incredibly brave to tackle this terrifying situation head on.

“He is lucky to have not suffered a serious injury as a result of the attempted robbery.

“We are now trying to identify the men pictured who we’d like to speak with in connection with the report.

“If you recognise the men, or have any information that could aid officers in their investigation, please contact Nottinghamshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 790 of 10 February 2020.”
