Arrest after alleged bomb threat on BBC Nottingham offices

A man has been arrested over an alleged bomb threat targeting the BBC offices in Nottingham.

An investigation was launched after it was reported the BBC received a message via Facebook, on 24 March 2021, threatening that the centre would be bombed.

Officers have now detained a 36-year-old man in London this morning (Thursday 27 May 2021) on suspicion of malicious communications. He has been released under investigation.

Detective Inspector Ruby Burrow, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “We are taking this report extremely seriously and I am pleased that we have now made an arrest in connection with our extensive investigation.

“As this is a live ongoing investigation I would urge people not to speculate on this case, however I would like to take this opportunity to provide reassurance that there are no wider concerns for public safety.”
