Arrest after burglary at a Nottingham Wilko store

Police investigating a burglary at a Wilko store have arrested a suspect.

Inquiries are ongoing after reports the front window of the property in Mansfield Road, Sherwood, was smashed to gain entry.

Cleaning products were stolen following the break-in at around 1.45 am today Thursday 23 February 2023.

Officers arrived on the scene and arrested a suspect in a nearby car park.

A 32-year-old man is being questioned on suspicion of burglary as the investigation continues.

Detective Sergeant Paul Crofts, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Incidents of this nature can have a very considerable impact on local businesses and are always thoroughly investigated by Nottinghamshire Police.

“I am pleased officers quickly identified and arrested a suspect in this case while we continue with our lines of inquiry into this incident, including checking CCTV footage.

“As a force, we are committed to preventing and reducing burglary and we continue to work very closely with partners and local businesses to drive down incidents of this type.

“In order to assist us with our ongoing enquiries into this incident I would urge anyone with information, including those who may have CCTV, dashcam or mobile phone footage, to contact us as soon as possible as it may aid us in our investigation.”
