Detectives investigating after car keys were stolen during a home break-in have arrested a suspect.
A resident in Main Street, Rempstone, Rushcliffe, reported seeing an intruder entering a neighbouring property in the early hours of the morning.
Officers attended a short time later and spoke to the occupants of the address, who said they had been awoken by noises downstairs and a neighbour’s dog barking.
They discovered two sets of car keys and a purse had been taken. The vehicles were not stolen.
Since the break-in, which was reported around 4 am on 9 April 2024, detectives from the County Burglary Team have been carrying out CCTV analysis, house-to-house, and other inquiries.
A 36-year-old man has now been arrested in the West Midlands area on suspicion of burglary.
Investigator Caitlin Hill, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:
“This arrest is an important step in our investigation, and the victims have been informed about the development.
“It is an unnerving and unpleasant ordeal for anyone to discover an intruder has been in their home, where they rightly expect to feel safe.
“Our investigation is ongoing, and I’d urge anyone with any relevant information to get in touch. If you live in the village and saw any suspicious individuals or vehicles on the night in question, please contact us.
“Likewise, we still want to hear from anyone with relevant CCTV, doorbell, or dashcam footage who has not previously spoken with an officer.”
Anyone who can assist should call 101, quoting incident number 56 of 9 April 2024, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
