Arrest after community tip-off leads to search of Rushcliffe site and stolen goods discovery


Police officers have arrested two men (aged 37 and 29) and two women (aged 43 and 30) on suspicion of burglary and theft after executing a warrant in Normanton on Soar this morning (14 February 2020).

A large site containing static caravans and outbuildings was searched by officers from the Rushcliffe Police Neighbourhood Policing Team on Rempstone Road following information being passed on by the local community.

Residents from the area had been concerned about recent activity and rang officers.

Having searched the site officers have seized property that is believed stolen including items from a local hairdressers in East Leake.

In this case to allow the hairdressers to open their business again officers have returned equipment straight to the owner.

Burglary Team Detectives will now take over the investigation and are now interviewing the four people at the Bridewell Custody Suite.

Rushcliffe Inspector Craig Berry said: “Our Beat team were acting on information received from the local people and I am grateful for that assistance.

“In recent weeks there have been a number of crimes including burglary, theft from vehicles and other theft offences reported in the villages around this site.

“We have followed up a number of investigation opportunities which have steered our focus back towards individuals as this site. officers searching the site have recovered significant amount of what we believe to be stolen property which we will try and reunite with victims in due course.

“We are now working with Rushcliffe Borough Council colleagues to look at the appropriate future use of the site.”
