A 36-year-old man was arrested after more than a five-hour stand-off in Sutton-in-Ashfield was safely resolved.
Nottinghamshire Police officers were called to Elder Street in Skegby just after 2pm yesterday (Monday 16 November) responding to concerns for a man’s safety.
When police arrived the man was inside his house and refused to leave his address.
Specialist units were quickly on the scene and engaged with the man.
While officers carefully engaged with him, the man allegedly threw items from a window, resulting in an officer being hit on the head. The officer wasn’t seriously injured.
After around five-and-a-half hours of negotiations the incident was brought to a safe conclusion and a man was arrested inside the property, at around 7.30pm, on suspicion of affray, assault by beating of an emergency worker and public order offences. He remains in custody.
Inspector Georgie Ball, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “This was a contained incident with no threat to the wider public and following extensive negotiations with the man we were able to bring the incident to a safe conclusion.
“I would like to thank people in the area for their patience as we worked to resolve the incident.”
