Police investigating a series of burglaries in the same village have arrested a suspect.
Four break-ins were reported in East Leake overnight on 24 and 25 April – one in Bateman Road, one in Sand Martin Close, and two in Fieldfare Close.
On one occasion a suspect is believed to have climbed through a bathroom window as his victim slept before making off with a car from the driveway.
The vehicle was later recovered in Loughborough.
An 18-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday (11 May) on suspicion of four counts of burglary and later released on bail as investigations continue.
Detective Constable David Smith, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Burglary is a horrible crime and can have a long-lasting impact on victims.
“One of our victims was in bed as an intruder climbed into her house and stole her car and was understandably shaken by the experience.
“I am pleased we have now arrested a suspect for this series of offences and would like to assure all residents of just how seriously we take this issue.”
Nottinghamshire Police operates teams of specialist burglary detectives and ensures that every victim is visited in person by a police officer.
