Arrest after man alleged to have threatened someone in Nottingham flats

Police investigating a report of a man allegedly threatening someone in a block of flats made an arrest.

Nottinghamshire Police was called to the flats in Victoria Centre at around 11.30 pm last night ( Friday 6 November ) after a man was alleged to have been demanding entry to a flat while holding a weapon.

Officers attended and located a 40-year-old man in a flat near the scene.

He was quickly arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon in connection with the investigation.

An extendable baton was recovered from the scene.

Sergeant Janine Barnes, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Nottinghamshire Police takes reports of weapons offences very seriously and will investigate them thoroughly.

“No one was injured in this incident and we are led to believe that this was an isolated report.

“Our officers acted very quickly to make an arrest and the man remains in custody for questioning.

“I would ask that anyone who has any information that could aid our officers in their investigation into this incident to get in touch via 101 quoting incident number 762 of 6 November 2020.”
