Arrest after man spotted with baseball bat in Nottingham street

Police have made an arrest after a man was spotted walking along a busy Nottingham road with a baseball bat.

Officers on patrol in St Ann’s Well Road, St Ann’s, spotted a suspect with the bat under his arm at around 3am on Thursday (16 February 2023).

When approached by police the man put the baseball bat on the floor.

The 40-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon.

Sergeant, Paul Crofts, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:

“This was a good piece of police work buy the officers on patrol in St Ann’s that night.

“This is exactly why we carry out proactive patrols across the city day and night. They help us to spot suspicious activity and prevent possible offences before they happen.

“There is no excuse to be walking around the city with an offensive weapon like this and I’m pleased we have a suspect in custody.”
