Arrest after man ‘threatened to burn house down’

Police arrested a man moments after receiving information that a man was threatening to burn down a house in what officers say is an isolated incident.

A 57-year-old was taken into custody on suspicion of threats to life after the comments were made in relation to a house in Eastwood last night.

Neighbourhood Sergeant Simon Boyles, said: “This was an isolated incident where all parties are known to each other and I’d like to reassure residents that there is no threat to the wider public.

“However, we take threats like this really seriously and I’m glad that this incident was brought to our attention which enabled us to quickly act on it.

“The man remains in custody while we carry out all the relevant enquiries in relation to the threats that have been made.
