Arrest after motorcyclist dies in A60 collision

A woman has been arrested after a motorcyclist was killed in a road traffic collision.

The incident occurred shortly before 9.10pm on Sunday 25th July on the A60 Mansfield Road.

The collision took place south of the junction of Burntstump Hill and involved a van and a motorcycle travelling in opposite directions along the road.

The rider of the motorcycle, a 48-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene.

His family have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.

A 31-year-old woman was later arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving while unfit through drink and failing to stop at the scene of an accident.

She has been released under investigation.

Collision investigation officer Sophie Law, of Nottinghamshire Police’s serious collision investigation unit, said: “This was a tragic incident in which a man has lost his life. We are keen to understand exactly what happened and are appealing for any witnesses to come forward or have any dash camera footage to please contact 101 and quote 826-25072021”
