Police have arrested a man after an officer was attacked during disorder linked to a protest in Nottingham City Centre.
The arrest comes after Nottinghamshire Police issued a CCTV appeal on social media asking for the public’s help to identify a man they wanted to trace in connection with the incident near Old Market Square on Saturday 3 August.
A police officer was assisting his colleagues with an arrest when an unknown offender came from behind and punched him.
The officer sustained a cut and swollen lip as well as bruising and swelling to his cheek.
A 34-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of common assault of an emergency worker. He remains in custody.
