A suspect was arrested after police spotted and followed suspicious looking car.
Officers on proactive patrol were alerted to a car in the Lenton area of Nottingham shortly after 11am yesterday and began following the car as it was driven towards the Clifton area.
As they attempted to pull the car over it sped off along the A60 towards Ruddington.
Shortly afterwards it crashed into the side of another car and the driver was detained.
The driver of the other car, a man aged in his 70s, was taken to hospital for treatment. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening or life-altering.
A 22-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of dangerous driving, failing to stop for police, driving without a licence, driving without insurance and causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
He was later released under investigation pending further enquiries.
Detective Inspector Mike Ebbins, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Officers were conducting proactive patrols when a vehicle failed to stop when requested. Officers took immediate action to bring it to a halt. Investigations into this and the driving offences remain under investigation.”
This was an appalling display of driving made all the worse by the fact that a wholly innocent member of the public was injured as a result. The suspect has been questioned and our investigation is ongoing.”
