Neighbourhood police officers have arrested a suspect after witnessing a bag full of Class A drugs being discarded while on patrol.
Officers from the city south neighbourhood policing team were in St Ann’s Way, St Ann’s, Nottingham, when they spotted a group of known drug users.
They also observed two young men passing items to members of the group around 10am on 15 September 2024.
One of the suspects was seen to throw a clear bag into the air and flee from the scene on a bicycle.
Officers recovered a bag containing a number of wraps of Class A drugs from the side of the road.
Following further investigations, a 14-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs on Tuesday (1 October).
Searches also uncovered a small amount of cannabis and the suspect was further arrested on suspicion of possession of a Class B drug.
Police Constable Emily Hart, of the city south neighbourhood policing team, said:
“Our teams carry out targeted patrols which allow us to intercept suspected drug dealing as we have done here.
“Class A drugs continue to cause serious harm in our communities and we work hard to tackle the issue as one of our neighbourhood priorities.
“If you are aware that drugs are being sold in your area please get in touch so we can investigate and take positive action.”
