Arrest after reports of a man threatened with an axe in argument about a car

Police officers are investigating after reports a man was threatened with an axe.

A man allegedly became angry after a discussion about a car, and as a result pulled an axe from the boot of his car.

It has been reported that a man was chased and threatened before he got back in his car and drove away, and officers were called to Cattle Market Road, Nottingham just before 1.10pm on Friday (23 April 2021).

Police quickly conducted enquiries and a 29-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of public order offences and possessing an offensive weapon.

Inspector Christine Busuttil, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Possessing an offensive weapon is a serious offence and officers will work quickly to establish the circumstances of such a report when we receive one.

“We understand the concern that incidents such as these cause, and our officers are committed to thoroughly investigating reports such as these.

“A man was swiftly arrested and officers continue their enquiries. We would ask anyone who saw the incident or has information to get in touch on 101, quoting incident 342 of 23 April 2021.”
