Arrest after reports of man armed with an axe chasing another man around Nottingham city

Patrol officers have arrested a suspect after a report of a man with an axe in public.

Nottinghamshire Police received a report of that a man was chasing another man around in the George Street area of Nottingham on 8 April.

Despite officers arriving on scene within minutes of the call at around 5.35pm, there was no sign of the incident and no victims came forward.

However, officers obtained images of those suspected of being involved and a 29-year-old man was arrested in the Long Row area of the city at around 8pm yesterday (Tuesday 13 April).

Detective Sergeant Andy Buxton, said: “Despite having no victims in this case, we are determined to get to the bottom of what happened and have been making substantial leads and aim to bring any offenders involved to justice.

“Incidents like this can be really distressing for members of the public and passersby and we won’t tolerate this intimidating behaviour.

“We continue our robust enquiries while the man remains in custody.”
