Police investigating the stabbing of a man in at a bus stop have made an arrest.
Emergency services were called after shortly before 9.40pm on Wednesday evening after the attack at a bus stop in Jubilee Way South in Mansfield.
The victim, a 39-year-old man, is believed to have been attacked about 20 minutes earlier, and then taken to hospital with serious injuries, which is when police were called.
He remains in a serious but stable condition in hospital.
A 40-year-old man was arrested this afternoon on suspicion of attempted murder. He remains in police custody.
Detective Inspector Nick Hall, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “This was a very serious assault, and we are working to understand exactly what happened in the minutes before, during and after the attack.
“We would like to speak urgently to anybody who may have seen or heard about what happened and would particularly like to hear from two members of the public who came to the victim’s assistance.”
