Arrest after street robbery in Nottingham in the early hours of this morning

Police arrested a suspect less than 45 minutes after a man was robbed in the street.

Officers were called to Milton Street, Nottingham city centre, at around 5 am on Monday (5 June) following reports the victim had been threatened by a man.

Demands were made for the victim to hand over his property before the suspect fled with the man’s mobile phone and wallet.

Response officers interviewed the victim and viewed CCTV footage – allowing them to quickly distribute an image of the suspect to other officers searching the area.

Officers tracked down a suspect in an alleyway off Alfreton Road and arrested the 31-year-old at around 5.45 am. He remains in police custody.

Detective Sergeant Andy Buxton, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Officers worked quickly and with great professionalism after being alerted to this robbery and I’m pleased we have a suspect under arrest.

“No one should be threatened in the street, or have their belongings taken from them like this.

“It must have been very frightening for the victim and I’m pleased we were able to take swift action.

“Our investigation remains ongoing and I’d urge anyone with any information or dash-cam footage which could help to get in touch.”

Anyone with information should call police on 101, quoting incident number 80 of 5 June 2023, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
