A man suffered head and facial injuries after being attacked with a metal pole and a man has been arrested in relation to the offence.
Officers from Nottinghamshire Police were called to the Brierley Road area of Sutton-in-Ashfield at around 5.50pm yesterday (Saturday 17 April).
The victim suffered an injury to his eye area and back of his head which required stitches in hospital.
A man was arrested on suspicion of attempted grievous bodily harm shortly after the incident was reported.
Detective Inspector Stuart Temple, of Nottinghamshire’s criminal investigation department, said: “This was a nasty attack and we won’t tolerate any level of violence in Nottinghamshire.
“We carried out quick enquiries which resulted in a man being arrested shortly afterwards and he remains in custody while we carry on with our investigative work.
“The victim has since left hospital and we will make sure he receives support following the ordeal.”
